![]() ![]() The sliding doors sense when something is blocking the door, such as a small child, and open back up instead of injuring the child. The engine has held up very well, though we do all recommended maintenance on it. We haven't had to have any major repairs done. It is even convenient to remove and reinstall the middle seats. We constantly change the seating around to accommodate what we are doing at the time. ![]() We frequently shuttle to sporting events with friends, family, ice chests, lawn chairs, etc., and have had no issues. It comfortably holds all the kids and three large dogs for trips as well. There is room in the seat backs for the kids to store electronics, books and art supplies for long trips. Very rarely has there been a space issue. We have hauled some major appliances, furniture and various other things along with the four kids. Our favorite features are the automatic side doors, in floor storage, and the assortment of seating configurations. The sliding doors also sense when something is blocking and open back up. The alarm sounds when the side doors are open and the car is in gear. At the time, cost of a newer vehicle was an issue. The newer ones are several inches wider and would have fit the seats better. Due to the year, it was a little crowded with three car seats when the kids were little. After seven years of heavy use, it has held up well in the interior except for a few cosmetic pieces. We really like the automatic side doors however, we have had to replace the motors a time or two. There have been many times I wish I could separate the children instead of them sitting right next to each other for long trips and still have a seat down for storage. I wish the back seats folded individually instead of one and two. The in floor storage is great as well as the back seats that fold into the floor. We shuffle our children to various school activities, sporting and family events. We have four children, plus occasionally more staying with us. Finally, four new premium features are offered: Bluetooth cell phone link, a four-way power passenger seat becomes standard on EX-L and Touring models a rearview camera display is integrated into the mirror on the EX-L, and the Touring gets memory-linked side mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature.For the most part, this is a great vehicle for our large family. Also for 2008, the Odyssey gets an audio auxiliary input jack and a CD player that can play MP3 or WMA files. The last version used only six or three cylinders. Standard on EX-L and Touring models, the new VCM system allows the V6 engine to run on six, four, or three cylinders, depending on driving conditions. Under the hood, Honda's Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system is updated. On the outside, the front grille and front fascia get a new look closer to that of the new Honda Accord. The line-topping Touring has as many bells and whistles as a good luxury sedan, and it comes with Acura pricing.įor 2008, the Odyssey receives several updates. The base LX starts at about $26,000 and includes most of the features that make family travel easier. ![]() Now in its fourth year of production, the current generation Odyssey still seems fresh. Four trim levels make it affordable to a wider group of buyers, yet all deliver car-like ride and handling and a comprehensive set of safety features, including electronic stability control and side curtain airbags for head protection. In short, it's a good choice for families.Īll Odyssey models are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission, and it's a good powertrain. Its flexible seating system can accommodate up to eight passengers and it has plenty of room. It's one of the most enjoyable to drive and lives up to Honda's reputation for refinement, convenience, and great fit and finish. The Honda Odyssey might be the best minivan on the market. ![]()
